Mini Huayruro Loco
This bracelet is made with tiny
huayruro seeds over a black macrame diamond pattern with
bright green florescent
accents.
This little black and red seed is called huayruro or
"huayrurito" for it's close resemblance to the larger huayruro
seed. In reality, it is not a true huayruro seed. The huayruro
seed grows on a tree and is much larger in size. The huayrurito
grows on a bushy vine called arbus precatoria, and is actually
among the most poisonous seeds known to man. It can be found in
many different tropical regions throughout the world. I have
collected it throughout South America, the Caribbean and
Florida.
The seed is very popular in South America because it is
believed to be the best protection against the "Evil Eye." It
is also believed to bring good luck to it's wearer.
You can clean this bracelet with a gentle wet brush, but the
bracelet must not be submerged in water because the seeds are
not water resistent.
To wear, slip one of the braided ends through the hole and
tie it with the other end.
Size: Slightly less than 1 inch wide and 7 1/2 inches
long, (plus tying ends).
