Earrings with Huayruro and Red Coral

This vibrant red earrings are created with a
shiny red glass bed, a red coral in the center and a
beautiful huayruro or "sirari" seed at the bottom. I
adore the shine on this red and black seed and I love to
wear it, I feel it is a powerful seed, it has some sort
of mysterious vitality. Well, I guess many feel this way
because it is considered good luck throughout South
America, thanks to the traditions of various indigenous
tribes. At the bottom it has two little ceramic tubes.
They are some of the last ceramic pieces of a bagful I
bought in Armenia (Colombia) a few years ago from a very
talented ceramic artisan.
It is 2 ½ inches long. It can
be washed with a gentle soap and a soft brush, but it can’t
be soaked in water for longer than a few minutes because the
sirari seed is not water resistant, if exposed to water
continuously, the seed will eventually fill up with water
and burst. Remember that this is what you do when you want
the plant to grow out from it! By the way, the sirari or
huayruro, scientifically named Ormosia sp. is a beautiful
tree that grows in the Amazon rainforest and around south
America.
