Orange Macrame Earrings with Huayruro and
Acai Seeds

These earrings have a very uplifting
orangness that makes them very enjoyable to
wear and look at. (Note: the orangeness is brighter than
the picture shows). With a small coral stone at the
top, a wonderful orange sirari seed in the center and a
round and happy acai seed at the bottom. The double half
hitch diamond macrame pattern is made with orange
linen, and decorated with orange glass beads. The sirari
(named like this in Bolivia) seed, also known as Huayruro
(Peru) and Olho de Cabra or goats eye in Brazil;
scientifically know as Ormosia sp., is featured in the
center. This magical seed comes in shades of red and
orange. It is considered good luck throught South America
and is used as a protection against the "evil eye" (the
harmful eye of envy).
It is 2 ½ inches long. It can be washed with a
gentle soap and a soft brush, but it can’t be soaked in
water for longer than a few minutes because the
sirari seed is not water resistant, if exposed to water
continuously, the seed will eventually fill up with water
and burst. Remember that this is what you do when you want
the plant to grow out from it!
